Your Beginners Guide: How to make Two-Colour Snap Wax Melts

by Hannah Smith 15 May 2024 0 Comments

Are you ready to take your Wax Bar game to the next level? We've created an easy to follow guide to help you create your own dual colour Snap Wax Bars from the comfort of your own home. This recipe includes coloured Mica powder to bring a sparkle and dimension to your creation.

Ingredients & Tools List;
*10-Cavity Wax Bar containers.
* Weight scale.
* Double boiler.
* 2 heat resistent jugs.
* Thermometer.

Colour One:
* 90 grams Golden 494 Wax.
* 10 grams Fragrance Oil - Fresh Unstoppable
* 2.5 grams Bronze Mica Powder.

Colour Two:
* 90 grams Golden 494 Wax.
* 10 grams Fragrance Oil - Fresh Unstoppable
* 2.5 grams Blue Mica Powder.

Our fragrance oil of choice for this recipe was our Fresh Unstoppable fragrance, a favourite of ours. Of course you can choose any type of fragrance oil you like for your wax bars.

Follow our full video guide here, or read through the instructions below!

1. Melting the wax: Take your two jugs of wax and melt them separately on a double boiler.

2. Adding the fragrance oil: Once the wax reaches 70 degrees and has completely melted, add in the 10g of fragrance oil to each portion of wax. Stir for approx. 2 minutes to ensure even distribution.

3. Adding your colour: When the wax reaches 72 degrees, mix in 2.5 grams of coloured Mica Powder, each colour to their respective container. Again stir for approx. 2 minutes to ensure even distribution.

4. Preparing the containers: Lay out your 10-cavity wax bar containers on a flat and even surface. Ensure the surface is clean and dry to prevent any type of moisture from getting inside.

5. Pouring the wax: Begin pouring the coloured mixtures from the end of the container, slowing moving towards the centre to create a two-colour effect. NOTE: You must only start this process AFTER the wax has cooled to under 55 degrees to prevent melting the containers.

6. Curing your wax bars: Let your wax bars cool and cure overnight. You'll know the wax bars are ready once they've fully set and hardened. We recommend 12-24 hours for curing.

And there you go! You've successfully created Two-Colour wax bars. Of course you can feel free to change up the recipe with whatever fragrance oil or colour combination you wish. Another idea: Fragrance Oil - Candyfloss + Blue & Pink coloured Mica Powder.

We'd love to see your creations so be sure to join the Craftovator Studio Facebook group and share photos of your wax bars. Let us know in the comments how they turn out!
