Pigment Colours

A pigment is a coloured material that is completely, or nearly insoluble in water. They colour something by suspending rather than solubilising. These colourants are ideal for hot/cold process soap as most are stable in alkali solutions. These can also be used in most non water based cosmetic/bath products and bases but would need to be mixed with a carrier such as oil, liquid glycerine or isopropyl alcohol before adding to a product. This is because they add colour by coating the molecules of the product instead of dissolving. All pigment colourants are non bleed.
